Dr. S.H. Lee Presents a Multi-national Scientific Research Aggregation with Ancient Historical Context about Green Tea to Combat Cancer at 1st Conference of the Society for Integrative Oncology

-- Ancient wisdom is compared with modern scientific studies to explore and explain the efficacy of Green Tea to fight cancer --

New York, NY, November 17, 2004 – At the first-ever International conference of the Society for Integrative Oncology, Sin Hang Lee, M.D. today presented a review of aggregated comparative world research in support of drinking green tea and outlined a scientifically defined specification for green tea to assist in the combat of cancer.

Dr. S.H. Lee also, for the first time, today released a white paper entitled “Re-introducing Tea to the West -- This Time to Fight Cancer.”  The white paper was distributed to the attendees at the Conference

The specification explained in the white paper is currently under consideration by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA docket No. 2004Q-0083) for a food label which would read “Daily consumption of 40 ounces of typical green tea containing 710 μg/mL natural (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer”. The label is being sought to guide the consumers and raise awareness of EGCG levels required to combat cancer.

"Americans and the Europeans should drink the kind of green tea that their scientists prepare for and feed to the mice in order to get the same health benefits of green tea that are observed in the laboratory mice," said Dr. Lee. "For health protection, the ancient Chinese Taoists had advanced the art and technology of tea preparation empirically. They chose non-oxidized tea leaves and natural pure water to brew tea in an oxygen-exclusion tea set called Zhong. The non-metallic utensils now known as china were invented for tea preparation before 900 A.D."

Dr. S.H. Lee devotes significant time to the study of green tea's efficacy in combating cancer and to raising awareness about the use of green tea. Collaborating with several tea research institutes in China, Dr. Lee developed a system to produce pesticide-free, high-antioxidant green teas to meet the scientific specification. Such high-antioxidant green teas are available to the public under the trade name of TeaForHealth™.

The Society for Integrative Oncology was formed by a group of individuals and organizations to create a scientific forum for complementary cancer care because a constantly growing number of cancer patients throughout the world turn to both alternative and complementary therapies as part of their cancer treatment plan without guidance from their doctors. The mission of Fleminger, Inc. is to disseminate reliable evidence-based scientific information to the educated consumers who want to use green tea as a functional food to help reduce the risk of cancer.
