Happy Chinese New Year – Welcome the Year of the Dog

As we welcome in 2006, we also prepare to begin the new year according to the lunar calendar. Chinese New Year falls on January 29 this year, when we will mark the beginning of the Year of the Dog.

MartyIn honor of this Zodiac sign, it seems particularly appropriate to pay tribute to the very special dog that is largely responsible for the formation of Dr. Lee’s TeaForHealth®. Marty was born homeless on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten in 1994. A victim of abuse and neglect, this handsome Labrador-mix puppy arrived on the doorstep of Dr. Lee’s son on Chinese New Year looking for food. A stroke of luck in many ways, Marty was adopted by Dr. Lee and was brought to his new home in Connecticut, where he lived like a king in a family of dog lovers.

In 2001, Marty was sadly diagnosed with multi-centric canine lymphoma. As a cancer pathologist, Dr. Lee was reluctant to use traditional harsh chemotherapy treatments on his dog. Turning to reported research, Dr. Lee opted for a strict regimented treatment of green tea and Cipro®, an anticancer antibiotic. To make a long story short, we are very happy to report that Marty is miraculously in remission and full of life 4 years later. Marty showed us the benefit of green tea against cancer four years before the patients convinced their doctors at the Mayo Clinic. For the scientific report on his treatment, visit the Tea Library on our web site.

Happy New Year!

Post-Mortem Dissection of the FDA Qualified Health Claim

A public meeting regarding “Assessing Consumer Perceptions of Health Claims” was assembled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on November 17, 2005. In response to the request for comments, Dr. Lee has submitted a post-mortem analysis of the language of the green tea health claim, expressing concern regarding the confusion that the FDA’s practices have caused. See the News & Events section of our web site for more information.

Mayo Clinic Report Indicates Green Tea May Benefit Leukemia Patients

In a report in Leukemia Research, a team of doctors from the Mayo Clinic realized that 3 of 4 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) showed signs of cancer regressing. For more details, see the News & Events section.
